ARMY GENERAL VIKTOR ZOLOTOV PRESENTED THE ORDER OF ZHUKOV TO THE SOUTHERN DISTRICT OF THE NATIONAL GUARD TROOPS OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

During a working trip to Rostov-on-Don, the Director of the National Guard Troops Federal Service of the Russian Federation - Commander-in-Chief of the National Guard Troops of the Russian Federation Army General Viktor Zolotov presented the Order of Zhukov to the Southern District of the Rosguard.

Having celebrated its 30th anniversary in January 2023, the Southern District of the Rosguard by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation dated December 26, 2022 was awarded for the courage and dedication shown by the Rosguardsmen of this District in the course of performing service and combat tasks, and for high performance in combat training.

The ceremony was attended by the Governor of the Rostov Region Vasily Golubev, Commander of the North Caucasian District of the Rosguard, Colonel General Sergei Zakharov, Commander of the Ural District of the Rosguard, Colonel General Sergei Boyko, as well as the representatives of agencies interacting with the Rosguard.

Army General Viktor Zolotov presented Colonel General Igor Turchenyuk with a certificate for the Order of Zhukov and attached a state award to the personal banner of the Commander of the Southern District of the Rosguard.

Addressing the personnel and veterans, the Commander-in-Chief noted that the high award is an objective recognition of the high military merits of all generations of the law enforcement soldiers representing the Southern District of the National Guard Troops.

Despite the relatively short period of official existence, the history of the development of the units of the southern outpost of the Rosguard is much richer. The starting point for the formation of the military traditions of the District was the formidable era of the Great Patriotic War.

The head of the Rosguard recalled that participation of the People’s Commissariat for Internal Affairs (NKVD) divisions in the bloody battle for Stalingrad, the eightieth anniversary of which our country is celebrating this year, made them tough. Subsequently, it was multiplied many times over, first by the Internal Troops, and now by the National Guard Troops.

Army General Viktor Zolotov emphasized that 41 servicemen and employees of the Southern District were awarded the highest state awards - the Gold Stars of the Heroes of the Soviet Union and the Russian Federation - for their courage and valor. The names of another one hundred and twenty fighters and commanders are forever enrolled in the lists of units and subunits of the strategic-territorial formation. It is very important that the baton of courage was taken over by the current generation of the Rosguardsmen, who faced a new severe battle with the revived neo-Nazism.

The Commander-in-Chief emphasized that the troops of the Southern District make a special contribution to implementing the tasks of the special military operation, since, along with effective combat work, they perform the most important functions of coordinating and logistical support for the activities of the National Guard Task Forces in the southern operational direction, and also play a key role in the formation of newly created units on the territory of the new regions of our country. At the same time, the troops continue to qualitatively carry out daily tasks, ensuring the protection of important facilities, participating in law enforcement and countering terrorism, which, of course, contributes to the creation of favorable conditions for the dynamic development of all entities of the Southern Federal District.

Army General Viktor Zolotov thanked the representatives of the regional authorities represented by the governor of the Rostov region Vasily Golubev, who was present at the event, for the productive interaction. The Director of the Rosguard expressed his gratitude to all the leaders of the regions for the help and support provided to the Troops.

The head of the Rosguard considered it symbolic that the name of one of the greatest commanders of our time - Marshal Georgy Zhukov - has become an integral part of the name of the Rosguard Southern District. Especially now, when Russia is again defending not only its state independence, but also the basic values of all mankind.

The Commander-in-Chief shared his observation of how much Russian society has united over the past year in a sincere and disinterested impulse to help the defenders of the Motherland. He emphasized that such obvious historical parallels with the Great Patriotic War testify to the invaluable contribution of each Russian region to our common Victory.

Army General Viktor Zolotov expressed confidence that today many residents of the Southern Federal District will also be able to experience the feelings of well-deserved participation in the high award of the National Guard Troops.

“Together we are the force capable of overcoming any trials and tribulations,” he said.

The Director of the Rosguard recalled that the efforts of the District units on the southern borders of Russia today not only contain the terrorist threat, but also begin the restoration of peaceful life in new regions of our country.

The Commander-in-Chief expressed confidence that the servicemen and employees would continue to fulfill any assigned tasks with honor, increasing the valor, honor and glory of the National Guard troops.

Army General Viktor Zolotov noted the high professionalism, courage and heroism of the personnel of the Southern Order of Zhukov District of the National Guard Troops, who have been participating in the special military operation from the first days, thanked the soldiers, warrant officers and officers of the District for their impeccable service and selfless devotion to the Motherland and wished new professional achievements for the benefit of the Fatherland!

In response, the Commander of the District, Colonel General Igor Turchenyuk, on behalf of the personnel and on his own behalf, thanked the head of the Rosguard for the high appreciation of the military work of his subordinates, the contribution of the Rosguardsmen to the protection of law and order in southern Russia and ensuring the safety of citizens.

At the end of the solemn ceremony, Army General Zolotov presented state awards to the Rosguardsmen, who distinguished themselves in the performance of service and combat tasks. Colonel General Igor Turchenyuk, Commander of the Southern District of the Rosguard, was awarded the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland" of III degree; Colonel General Sergey Zakharov, Commander of the North Caucasian District, and Colonel General Sergey Boyko, Commander of the Ural District, were awarded the Order of Alexander Nevsky. Among the awards presented to the servicemen and employees of the Rosguard are the Order of Courage and medals.

Then the Director of the Rosguard and the guests were shown captured equipment and weapons seized during the special operation. All of them are mostly foreign-made.

The culmination of the celebration was the opening of a monument to the servicemen and employees of the strategic-territorial formation of the Rosguard. The monumental composition, in the center of which there is a sculpture of a National Guard soldier with a bowl of Eternal Flame, was opened on the territory of the District administration by Army General Viktor Zolotov, Colonel General Igor Turchenyuk and the Governor of the Rostov Region Vasily Golubev. Those present honored the memory of fallen comrades-in-arms with a minute of silence and laid flowers at the foot of the new monument.
