More than 600 employees of the Special Purpose Mobile Units (OMON) of the Rosguard in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region and servicemen of a special motorized regiment of the North-Western District, together with colleagues from the regional Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, ensured law and order during a friendly match between the football clubs Zenit and Crvena Zvezda (Belgrade, Serbia).
Before the start of the match, the fans of both teams carried 600 meters of Russian and Serbian flags from the Krestovsky Ostrov metro station to the Gazprom Arena stadium, symbolizing the unity of the two fraternal nations. Everyone who was interested could join the action.
The match gathered 17,5 thousand spectators at the stadium. Thanks to the coordinated work of law enforcement staff, violations of law and order were not allowed.
The match ended with a score of 3:1 in favor of "Zenith". Both teams are leaders in their national championships.
