On March 12, 2021, the Director of the National Guard Troops Federal Service of the Russian Federation – Commander-in-Chief of the Russian National Guard Troops Federal Service Army General Viktor Zolotov held the meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to the Russian Federation, Comrade Julio Antonio Garmendia Peña, at the Central Command of Rosguard in Moscow. The event was also attended by the State Secretary – Deputy Director of Rosguard Colonel General Oleg Plokhoi and the Minister-Counsellor of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba Comrade Jose Garcia Valdez.
Army General Viktor Zolotov informed the guests about the tasks performed by the Russian National Guard, their role in ensuring law and order and public safety, countering terrorism and extremism, protecting important state facilities, controlling the circulation of weapons in the country, and also about the high level of interaction with the countries – members of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), as well as the states of the Asia-Pacific Region and South-Eastern Europe.
In the Central Museum of the National Guard Troops of the Russian Federation, an excursion was held for Cuban comrades, during which they familiriazed with the exposition dedicated to the 210th anniversary of the law enforcement forces and the 5th anniversary of Rosguard.
At the end of the meeting, the Director of the National Guard Troops Federal Service of the Russian Federation and the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba specified further plans for the development of cooperation between Rosguard and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Cuba. They expressed their confidence that such contacts will contribute towards the formation of a solid foundation for the long term bilateral cooperation.
